About the Author

Kate Scarlata MPH, RDN, is a New York Times bestselling co-author of 21 Day Tummy Diet, co-author of The Low FODMAP Diet Step by Step, and author of The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Eating Wellwith IBS.  As a world-renowned gastroenterology specialized registered dietitian, Kate has over 30 years working in the GI nutrition field. Kate earned her bachelor’s in science from Simmons College in Boston, Massachusetts and her postgraduate dietetic internship was completed at Harvard Medical School’s teaching hospital, Brigham and Women’s Hospital, followed by her Master’s in Public Health at University of Massachusetts. Kate lives in Medway, Massachusetts.

Megan Riehl, PsyD

About the Author

Dr. Megan Riehl PsyD, MA is a prominent GI psychologist and Associate Professor of Medicine at the University of Michigan who has lectured internationally in the area of psychogastroenterology and is a leader in her field. Her clinical expertise spans the field of gastroenterology from patients with motility disorders like irritable bowel syndrome, to those with chronic gastrointestinal diseases like inflammatory bowel disease and Celiac disease. Dr. Riehl is the clinical program director of the GI Behavioral Health program at Michigan Medicine where she has a full-time clinical practice, leads GI behavioral health trainings, and provides mentorship and consultation. Dr. Riehl serves as the Director of Behavioral Health Services for GI OnDemand, a joint venture with Gastro Girl, INC, and the American College of Gastroenterology. Dr. Riehl’s clinical research focuses on the delivery of GI behavioral health treatment for patients with disorders of the gut-brain and IBD. She participates on several national committees dedicated to research and education to enhance the psychosocial functioning of people with gastrointestinal problems. Dr. Riehl lives in Dexter, Michigan with her husband and three children.
